Birmingham, AL – (December 6, 2018)- Morehouse Student and former White House HBCU Ambassador Jarrell V. Jordan is kicking off “The Life Tour” in partnership with Birmingham City Schools to inform elementary, middle and high school students about the importance of life and about the impact that education plays in life success. The theme of the tour is “What Is Your Why” with an emphasis on the Importance of Life. During the tour, which will stop at schools in Birmingham, Montgomery and Talladega, Mr. Jordan and Life Ambassadors will also speak about their personal experience in school, making the right choices in life, share scholarship information, give college tips, provide guidance on the college applications.


This is the forth year that Mr. Jordan has hosted a tour in the State of Alabama. The Importance of Education Tour has expanded since its inception in 2016 and since been hosted in six states including Alabama, Georgia, Illinois, Mississippi, New York and Texas.


Mr. Jordan has partnered with college students from several different schools and former students who attended Birmingham City Schools to have a greater impact on the students in Birmingham. These students are some of the brightest and they are like-minded peers who also share his education focus. Collectively, this group will be able to share their stories with thousands of students across Alabama, with the goal of exerting a positive influence and motivating them to be successful.


Mr. Jordan is currently in his senior year at Morehouse College, majoring in political science with a minor in religion. He was selected as an Ambassador for the White House HBCU Initiative in August of 2016 and was one of 73 Ambassadors representing over 63 Historically Black Colleges and Universities. Mr. Jordan currently serves as the Founder & Chief Executive Officer of the Jarrell V. Jordan Foundation & Company.


On Friday, December 6, 2019 the Life Tour will make its first stop at Wylam Elementary School partnering with the Birmingham Fire Department and Commissioner Lashunda Scales. On the tour, we will have special guest speakers including Birmingham Police Chief Patrick Smith, Jefferson County District Attorney Danny Carr, Judge Kechia Davis, Councilwoman Wardrine Alexander, Myeisha Hutchinson in the Office of Congresswoman Terri Sewell and many more. Students speakers during this tour include Adarius Boyd (Alabama A&M University), Courtney Young (Alabama A&M University) Elyse London (Spelman College), Genesis Smith (Alabama State University), Jason Richardson (Alabama A&M University), Justin Smith (Wenonah High School), R. Jordan Davis (Morehouse College), Rosevelt Morris Jr. (Morehouse College) and Stanley Louis (Alabama State University).


The Jarrell V. Jordan Foundation will host a traveling roundtable discussion with Dr. Terry Roller who serves as the Assistant State Superintendent of Education on Monday December 9, 2019 at Putnam Middle School from 9:30-11:00 AM. Details about the roundtable discussion are listed below.
